Gl320
Hello,

I have retrofitted a NTG2.5 to a 2007 GL320. Everything is OK (steering wheel buttons, microphone and such), but I have two problems:
- the phonebook is not automatically synchronized upon pairing (iPhone 4). Previously I've had Viseeo MB-2 in armrest with NTG2 and worked flawlessly with both phones (mine and my wife's). It changed the active address book based on which phone was connected
- the backup camera has some interference which wasn't there before

My biggest problem is the phonebook auto-synchronization. What I did was to manually import both phonebooks in the NTG but we don't have so many identical contacts and it is a big mess.

Is it possible to do dynamic phonebook sync and user mapping based on which phone is connected?

I still don't want to move back to NTG2 because I like the maps and the FM UI.

The firmware is the latest, I don't have comfort phone option (I don't understand it with NTG2.5 anyway, with BT relaying)

Thanks

If you're using the inbuilt Bluetooth connection (not comfort telephony) then there is no dynamic phonebook sync., and as you've found, all the contacts end up in one shared "pot".

Comfort telephony

OK, got that, thanks. I wanted to make sure because I didn't find any clue over the 'Net if it does or doesn't work.

The comfort telephony will allow that? Is it just a Bluetooth relay?

Do you know if it is expensive to retrofit? I really don't understand their option numbers. From my understanding both the telephony kit I have in the car now (the one on the MOST ring, unused with NTG2.5) and Comfort telephony are Option 386. Is that right?

Thanks,
Alex

The existing pre-wire can be converted to comfort telephony. In my car I didnt need to change any parts for this but I understand it is car dependant.

You would then need to buy the iphone cradle.

As far as I know, the existing pre-wire has at least the following links:
- MOST fibers (two of them) running to COMAND (they are there now, but the device is not seen by STAR)
- microphone wire above the windscreen (cut and re-routed to NTG2.5)

So basically the current telephony module (Motorola, under the rear right passenger seat, I think) is completely disabled.

The armrest socket has power, tested with Viseeo, but nothing happens of course.

Is there a route from here to have comfort telephony for NTG2.5? The best would be to use Viseeo module, because I liked it a lot. Worked flawlessly.

Yes, the conversion is quite straight forward.

Hi Alfie,

Thanks for your answer. Do you have some pointers in what's needed as materials/components (I assume the BT gateway is one) and how to wire them?
