Only six days for my C124 to arrive, and as I am used to parking sensors (which have become essential given parking in London) I am looking at the various options of fitting them. I would prefer not to fit the bumper mounted ones, but noticed that there are some which are mounted behind the number plate. This would seem ideal in terms of appearance (or absence thereof) but does anyone have any experience of them in real life?

Feedback gratefully received!

The sensors arent mounted behind the numberplate, they are built in to a numberplate frame. Also the detection area is not as good as they only use two sensors which will be located centrally. They would also be high up because of the position of the numberplate on the c124.

How about the Parking Dynamics system instead which doesnt require the bumper to be drilled. No Holes Parking Sensor | Parking Dynamics Reverse Sensor

That looks perfect, thank you npuk. I hadn't twigged the problems you mentioned with the numberplate solution, so I think that can be dismissed.

That is exactly it, Nullogik. Having seen the one npuk showed, this looks very clunky.

Totally agree. Npuk's invisible one is better and means the car can retain its OEM look without any drilling or obvious attachment parts.

Let us know how the install goes. I was thinking of installing one of these as well.

I had a number plate sensor Meta SR2 Targa Parking Sensor System from Halfords Price £99.99 as NPUK describes fitted to a 97' w210 for years and found it worked well but did not check the sides ie great for backing up in straight line, but if parking involved any steering you did have to use the mirrors. the other benefit to it was it was really easy to fit with all the wiring contained with in the boot area no removal of bumper or crawling around underneath.

Targa Number plate

I've used the targa system on my S type Jag,and they are excellent! I will probably use the same system on my E220.

£50 found on the net at the moment (I have no affiliation with them)
