Number Plate on show?

It is not as simple as that, mainly because the process of obtaining keepers' details from the DVLA involves registration (and proving fake reason) which will give the police something to go on.... much easier for the thieves to simply spot coveted cars parked outside their owners' homes.

Google - KADOE

A simple google search found this information...

Setup a fake non traceable business which issues parking fines on private land. Apply for an account.
Online searches for DVLA enabled.

Thats all these dodgy car parks do to get your details to send you letters relating to fines.
I imagine its must easier sat on a computer searching for cars than walking around car parks on the off chance.

Ebay makes it easy...

Indeed - proving the point that pictures posted online are a far better source of registrations than wandering around hoping to see the right model & colour somewhere on the streets!

It's so everyone who has a illegal number plate like a hummm... Black and silver one on a c63, or a illegally spaced one doesn't get the pee taken out of them on this forum for doing so lol ;)

You'd need to be pretty lucky unless you're after a very common model/colour combination.

Have a walk down any street in Kensington - and pick your model/colour....

How would you know the owner's home address from an eBay ad? Unless you go and see the car.

I am not saying it never happened, just that I seriously doubt that fake parking companies fraudlently registering with the DVLA are a significant factor in car theft.

But that shows how simple it is to get information. all you need is someone on the inside to get information surely?
