I bought some Hafords number plate surrounds.

I think for £20.00 a pair they are a worth while mod.

Not a good idea to post your number plate on here m8.

Cover some of the letters over in a paint package

Yeah - they look good.

The problem with the (cheap!) one that I had off eBay, is that once screwed in to the tailgate, the screws protruded and I couldn't stick the plate flush to the back of the surround - so had to use thicker pads, and consequently it doesn't look quite right ! -but you seem to have done it with no problems.

(I didn't want to screw through the plates either !)

**EDIT** Moving to Bodywork section !

Thanks for your comment, but I am puzzled as to what anyone could do with the fact that they have seen my 'Number'

After all, it is on display for all to see when I'm driving, parked in a public place and the DVLA know what it is.

Please can someone explain why one should not reveal ones plate on the Net.

1 reason, if someone was to steal a Sliver M-Class, they could stick your plate on it and go about there business without fear of being stopped.

They could speed etc under your name and you foot the bill

Fair comment, but they could equally well see mine, or anyone else's silver ML in a car park, or go to a MB dealer and see silver pre owned MLs or wait on the pavement for a few minutes untill a silver ML passed by.

How many car thieves are on this Forum by the way ? ;)

As KillerHertz rightly says, you risk the chance of somebody stealing the identity of your car(s) for the purposes mentioned by displaying your reg on the web, especially on a Mercedes Oriented Forum.

Of course, this might happen anyway, but why increase the chances !

It is surprisingly easy to find out lots of info from your reg number, lets say you happened to mention you were off on holiday next week, a criminal could easily find out your address and well I am sure you get my drift.

It's just safer to blank your number plates for lots of reasons.

[Stalker]Already we know your name is Tony M :) and you work for an Air conditioning company : & its address[/Stalker]

You get the idea :)

cloned cars you get the bill and you have to prove it s not you ...??? ;)

Some more info on why not to show your plate.....

A local is much less likely to run a double plated vehicle in the vicinity of where they find the cover plate. Most doubled up vehicles are some distance away, so a good way to find a reg number without having to travel is the internet.

If the doubled up vehicle ever got stopped and the driver knew the name of the owner and the area which it is registered in the police are MUCH less suspicious. It will show up as being correct on their records.

Just about keepin safe :)

That comment makes a lot of sense, Thanks.
