Can it be explained in simple terms the meaning of offset? My problem is I am looking for a set of wheels for my 2000 202 est,I understand 35 to 38 offset is the standard. However how much leeway do I have? with 16" wheels there are some very nice items on ebay but alas are 31and 32 205 front 225 rear will they fit? I dont wish to go above 16" and I dont want anything rubbing on the wheelarches etc.So should I stay within the 35 to 38 to be sure..

The offset is the distance fron the mounting face to the centre line of the wheel. As Television says, the smaller the ET number the more they will stick out depending on the rim width. With larger numbers and wide rims there is a chance you could snag some suspension components with the inner rim.:)
