Kinda off topic, but I remember someone on here was VERY knowledgeable about oils.I'm a tech advisor for the X1/9 owners club and its vital on the X1/9 to use NON EP gearbox oil of the 80w90 variety.Non ep oil is just about impossible to get,and I have 2 questions.Firstly is there any oil that would be a direct replacement for thei, and secondly whats in the EP oil that seemingly eats the syncro rings?

help,please!!!

EP additives attack white metal and bronze. These are sulfur-phosphorous, borates and sulfur-phosphorous-boron chemistries.AFAIK
Any oil specified for a series Landrover gearbox will work OK.
