Hi Guys

I have a oil and filter change to do on my 2006 CLK 280 and have seen this laser a 76mm tool in Halfords will it fit it ok ? I tried to post a link but didn't work :(

Thanks in advance

Alternatively, measure across the filter housing and count the number of flats around the circumference.

I don't recommend this, but my dad used to hammer a screwdriver into the body
of the old filter and use it as leverage to unscrew the old oil filter.

I remember watching him do this once, he said to be careful to hammer it in
off centre so you don't hit the threaded shaft inside that the filter screws
onto.

The new filter can then be screwed on 'hand tight'. Apparently this is tight
enough to hold it in place without fear of it undoing itself. :0)

I suppose he saved himself the cost of buying the proper tool eh?

If your not feeling as brave, I've used this tool before:

Halfords Chain Oil Filter Wrench 10...

They're good because you can adjust the chain to suit any size filter. :0)

But If your tight for space around the filter then this tool would be better:

As with most recent MB's is this not a bare cartridge type filter rather than a screw on can. If so all you need is a suitable sized socket to fit the filter housing.

DO NOT TRY THE ABOVE

 :fail  :fail  :fail

Mercedes filters are housed within a reusable plastic casing. They are NOT a sealed metal canister type.
