:bannana:Could someone explain the reason for Presence of Oily substance in Connector of Oxygen Sensor.:bannana:. I have noticed this while changing the Sensor. Interesting thing is Wires to sensor are all dry and coming from ECU is dry. I am talking about sensor which is near to engine on exhaust.

Anyone else had similar experience ...Is this the reason for sensor malfunction.....

That sounds like the issue of the cam timing solenoid passing oil into the loom. There is a modified connector to stop it happening.

Dm...

Is their no way of modifying existing connector.. its of Bauch Company.....I applied Tape heavily on each side of connector..will this be effective

I had the same problem with a E200k this week . The oil has traveled down the loom to the ECU , I canged the CPS and fitted the new connector , gonna see how it works

Not really. The whole wiring harness is full of oil. Without the spacer harness on the solenoid it will keep going by capillary forces.

Best bet is to pay for the new harness and then ensure the ECU and MAF are in the clear.

A cheap repair now will be a very expensive repair in a year.

My wife has a C200K and now I'm a bit worried. How does the oil get into the loom? Is it at the crankshaft position sensor and it then finds it's way down the loom to the ECU and Oxygen sensor?

What is the best way to check whether I have this problem?

Probably no help at all:D but common issue on TD5 disco injector loom under rocker cover seal fails and oil contaminates whole of engine loom and fills ecu with oil:eek:

Cure is replace injector loom under rocker cover £35.00 clean out ecu loom plugs with brake cleaner, repeat monthly on the plug cleaning and the problem does goes away after a couple of cleans.

Maybe worth a try?

Initially people were replacing engine looms and the ecu.

take the advise, i change my loom, and all the other parts as they were all coated in oil causing all sorts of malfunctions, now the car runs as it should.

As the saying goes... A picture is a thousand words.
When you see this, it's time to replace the Crank Position Sensor

Can anyone help with the location of the O2 sensor connector please?

I see that the O2 sensor are close to the CAT (before and after) but I can't seem to locate the connector location.

This is to check for the presence of oil.
