What does the orange seal and surrounding area look like where the black batwing joins the front of the turbo ?Hi all
Changed oil today and when removing the engine cover I noticed oil over the turbo shield. Can’t see where this is coming from. Aldo on the back in the engine cover, picture attached that I took earlier
As can be seen it’s more towards the right hand side as looking at the engine

Orange seal is fine as I’ve recently changed it along with the batwingWhat does the orange seal and surrounding area look like where the black batwing joins the front of the turbo ?
Also changed the green seal last weekOr where the long silver pipe runs across the top of the engine towards the turbo there may be oil coming from the last joint near the turbo .
I’m lost on that oneDisturbed the salmon tin ??
yesAny oil on the underside of the engine cover ??
Yes I did. I’ll take a look again on the weekend and get someone to rev the engine while I take a look (after cleaning it all up)Did you smear grease on the green seal, before fitting it, as they can catch when dry and kink, or even split.
The salmon tin mod is w1ghtys catch can that sits under the red seal on the turbo. I used bacofoil on the swirl flap motor , he went to the next level.I’m lost on that one
Did you put the green ring on the turbo first or inside of the charge pipe recess ??Yes I did. I’ll take a look again on the weekend and get someone to rev the engine while I take a look (after cleaning it all up)
I put the green o-ring on the turbo first then slid the pipe overDid you put the green ring on the turbo first or inside of the charge pipe recess ??
I was gifted a new turbo seal and a few other bits n pieces by a kind forum member a while ago , I'll be changing it and creating a bacofoil cover for the glc350 , something I've not done as yet . Only owned it 18 months . Must be 5 years since I created my first tin foil cover .Also in @W1ghty salmon tin mod photo above, note how close the batwing is to the turbo. I couldn't see this detail on your photo.
I have some oil vapour misting a few weeks ago, and when I looked I realised that, for whatever brain fart I was doing at the time, I hadn't pushed the batwing on anything like near enough!
Removed and refitted loads of times before, but this time (in the cold a literally freezing weather) I'd made a mistake when I was fitting my newest baco foil oil catcher iteration. Great suggestion from @OneForTheRoad that one!
I changed this early last year with a aftermarket one but for an error code for the heater output so put the old one back onReplace the pcv valve and there will be pretty much no oil going through the turbo anyway.
