Old VHS tapes

The time has come to dispose of around 500 pre-recorded old tapes - all in original boxes. Mainly thrillers, scifi, period drama, kids stuff, and some without guns and bullets (watchable when the wife is sitting next to you).
Thing is...
They are obsolete and have no real value that I can find out about.
Aoart from a very very few, I am heartbroken to simply take them to the recycling point. Even charity shop wouldn't have them from me as "noone wants them".

Any suggestions?

If your name was Damien Hirst you could do something 'artistic' with them and sell it to Mr Saatchi for £1 million. Worth a go surely. On the other hand, regrettably thrown them in the recycling tip.

Transfer the ones you want to keep on to DVD.

Sell as a job lot on ebay or if you want to give them away freecycle.org

Donate to a suitable museum? Might be worth trying a few emails to establish if there is any interest. Seems a shame to just dump them.

There are still people out there who use VHS and Betamax......................................................................well VHS defo
