Hi guys,
I know that swirl flaps and resistor been discussed here over and over, but yet I’m struggling for over year since resistor fitted.
As plastic links broke on both side swirl flaps I took motor out , fixed flaps open position and fitted resistor.
However when idling or stop red light 2355-001 insufficient egr flow comes up and puts in limp no turbo, key cycle does the trick until next stop, but imagine this pain as doing up to 100 miles a day 6 days a week.
So as swirl flaps are open instead of closed during idle 2355-001 is inevitable.
Can anyone share they experience after fitting 4.7k resistor for flaps and fix them open position, how your egr copes with this?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Would it be possible to disable EGR in your country? At least OM646 works fine with EGR weld closed (cooler blocked) and a whole function disabled from program. As a bonus they put some 50% additional horses to engine.

Hi all,
As there was no response in regards my issue in post above, I’ve had to improvise my self, and so results are in:
After fitting 4.7k resistor to swirl flaps on my om642, it would go in limp on every idle generating 2355-1 insufficient egr flow,
So in response unplug egr plug (3 wire) 1/2 watt 2.2 ohm resistor plugs in pin 1 and 2 and wholaa,
No limp or codes works like a charm with swirl flaps fixed in open or closed positions(btw when fixed in closed I found noticeably better response in lower rev range. And no need for any complicated resistor and conductor soldering schemes.

Hope it helps to those in need.

Best regards
Igors
