Having just read the threads on all that can be enabled by the comandonline guys, who know the Star system inside out, my question is ..........

Is it possible to enable the electronic oil level check via Star software setting changes?

I guess not, perhaps because it does not have the required sensors but has anyone checked?

I take it there would be low level oil warning light if oil level fell too low?

Assume we are stuck with a dipstick.

Did you ask Richard on MBGuru ? He would give a definitive answer.

It's bound to have the sensors, even my old bus has this facility (and a dipstick).

Whats wrong with the dip stick, it works very well.
Nothing at all wrong with the dipstick, although there is differing advice about how and when to check.

My car is parked at home on a significant slope, no point looking at the dipstick 20 mins after shutdown. I regularly checked the E320 6 iLine cdi oil level when out using the display, it seemed accurate.

Its not convenient to get the bonnet up for a dipstick check when out, even if I remember, I'll rely on the low level warning most of the time, and continue to carry some oil.

I'd be wary about waiting for the light to come on.

I check mine and they are brilliant engines for using minimal amount of oil, even when when mine was pissing it all out the turbo, it leaked just enough to bugger the shut off motor without causing the light to come on.

Brilliant engineering :D
