One owner 500E !!!

I think that Bornite 500E has been on and off the market for sometime..IMO It looks better with original 8-Hole alloys..

According to Autotrader this 500E has had 3 owners in the UK and was first registered here in 1998. The last owner change was 25.06.2006. I don't know how accurate this information is, although its usually pretty good...

Looks like a very nice car indeed, although at 12.5k maybe a little steep? A mint silver 500E ended on eBay for 7.2k recently and a slightly rusty 199 charcoal one ended for 6.1k. I guess as these are appreciating classics people will pay for the right one...

I sold my mint 199 charcoal E500 for 5.7k in 2005 with 175,000km...

any more info/details on this one
thanks

From the ad on MBOC:

I've decided that I can't justify running two cars, so my beloved 500E is up for sale. It is a 1992 K in immaculate Metallic Bornite with black leather heated memory seats. The car is highly specified, with air conditioning, electric pre-heater, electric rear blind and a wooden-lidded storage compartment between the rear seats. As an example of the care lavished upon this car by previous owners, it is fitted with clear plastic protectors in all areas prone to stone chipping. It has a Becker Mexico CD-Radio with upgraded speakers and amplifier (all professionally and very discreetly installed) and an i-pod interface. A Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser is also fitted. The car has done 187,000 Km (approx 117,000 miles) and has a full service history. During my ownership (last 18 months) it has had two full services and two oil changes. When the last service was undertaken in March 2007 I had a new radiator fitted to the car as part of a programme of ongoing preventative maintenance. I have a folder full of supporting documentation, including a colour copy of an early edition of Mercedes Enthusiast in which the car was featured. The car rides on standard 8-hole alloys with Continental tyres. I also have available a set of Evo II wheels fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres for sale by separate negotiation (I have only used these wheels and tyres during the summer months). The car will be sold with 12 month's MOT. Price - £11,500, or £12,500 with the Evo II's.

I bumped into the previous owner of the bornite 500E at the NEC Classic car show 2 years ago....I had just pulled up in my 500E.

Have to say that his car was mint....however, for the price being asked now I would want to know that the wiring harness had been replaced....if it hasn't, then its a time bomb waiting to go off, especially on the 500E due to the under bonnet heat that gets generated......if there is no evidence of it being replaced you would want to knock £800 of the asking price straight away.

hi where are these cars for sale, how much and what condition ?
thanks

These Cars are for sale, through me, as I have not yet advertised them due to certain people showing interest, but not calling me back???
If you have a serious interest, please pm me and I will forward all details to you personally,

Regards,

Terry.

PS: Cars are on the outskirts of London, in Essex.

You cannot go wrong with a 500E/E500. And you cannot comment until you have driven one. I took a big risk and imported one from japan just recently. Got her for just under GBP £7000 !! And with only 78,000 kms on the clock. Had her inspected by local MB Dealer who passed her with flying colours. Not a scratch on her.

If I could work out how to post a picture in this message, I would

Took her for first long drive yesterday and it didn't even feel as if I had been sat driving. Pure Pure please to drive.....and the power !!!, best merc I have ever owned..........

Are they any 500E/E500 enthusiasts on this site?

Could you tell us about how you imported the car from Japan and what implications it brought? Also the costs involved? I am looking to do a similar thing sooner or later...Thanks in advance.
