I doubt that you will see half-decent cars decaying at the roadside anywhere else other than London.

I passed this last week - taxed until next year but covered in debris and bird muck. It must have been standing for months:

Then there is this Range Rover Sport. It's a 55 plate, is also taxed and seems to move under its own steam. However, I would hope that it doesn't go far since it lacks a few basics (such as indicators and a registration plate) and has a very iffy front n/s alloy:

Why do you take the pictures of scrapped cars and those above - is it an interest or do you work in / own the scrapyard?

Lol
Now if you were gonna leave any make of car under a tree and let it get covered in bird turd.........

This one gets washed once a year :) Last time, if I remember correctly in Jan or Feb, after the letter from the council stuck to the windscreen.

You should see the expensive motors thick of dust lying on the multi storey car parks on Monaco

No it's just an alternative perspective to all the detailing / performance threads on here.

It's quite interesting (for me at least) to see what ends up at a scrapyard these days.

My days of nipping along to one in Catford to buy bits from MK1 Cavaliers for my Opel Manta are long gone and I don't really see the insides any more.

Some people have too much money to be able to leave a car parked up and abandon it

*pedant alert*

That's a Full Fat Range Rover, not a Sport.

Wasting stupid amounts of money on a car not used, versus spending stupid amounts of money on batsh1te products and services that add no value to a car.. worth discussing ;)

This approach doesn't surprise me. There are 2 Lotus Elans parked in Croxted Road, just off the South Circular near Dulwich, which have been sitting there for years slowing rotting away. Seems such a waste.

Parked under a tree (especially a lime tree) in a street with building going on and that could easily happen in a two to three week period, especially if no rain. The reason you see it more in London is because large areas have houses with no drives or garages.

I used to share a flat with some friends nr high street ken around year 2000, it certainly used to be that there are more parking permits issued in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea than there are parking spaces. Most of the time it just about works, but at times when most people are at home (like Sunday evening) it's hard to find a spot and if you find one under a tree you might not have a choice but to use it. If you then don't use the car that much it can end up end up sitting there a while.

My flatmate had a pug 106 that got coated like that, varnished by birds! It didn't take long at all - only a couple of weeks.

With no off-street parking, where else can cars be left when the owner is abroad / in hospital / in prison / driving a different vehicle.

Outside of the city we can leave our cars on our driveway to get mucky, rust away, et.

I would love to wash that Citroen :D So satisfying.

You can come and wash mine, although mine is a bit cleaner than that.
