I cleared out a drawer full of old imperial spanners the other week , most of them belonged to my late father , who passed away 30 years ago. I offered them to no1 son as I wanted them to remain in the family. In the past he has owned a couple of Triumph Spitfires/GT6 ( which were previously mine), so I thought he may be keen to have some more Imperial spanners. " No thanks dad , I still have a load that I borrowed/nicked from you years ago , and I am going to stick with Porsches for the foreseeable future " . No.2 son. "Spanners ? wtf do I need them for ? I am not likely to buy a classic car , and if I do , you can fix it ". The spanners looked so forlorn sitting in an old canvas bag that I had to put them back in the toolbox . May come in handy one of these days...………… . Fortunately I only have a mild dose of Millaritis , so I didn`t spend any time polishing them!
