A great little WERA set that I picked up in a Car Boot sale.

Anyone know when the next 3 for 2 deal will be on at Halfords ?
I fancy emptying my wallet on some impact sockets and while I’m there I should probably replace my imperial socket set as well ....

I cleared out a drawer full of old imperial spanners the other week , most of them belonged to my late father , who passed away 30 years ago. I offered them to no1 son as I wanted them to remain in the family. In the past he has owned a couple of Triumph Spitfires/GT6 ( which were previously mine), so I thought he may be keen to have some more Imperial spanners. " No thanks dad , I still have a load that I borrowed/nicked from you years ago , and I am going to stick with Porsches for the foreseeable future " . No.2 son. "Spanners ? wtf do I need them for ? I am not likely to buy a classic car , and if I do , you can fix it ". The spanners looked so forlorn sitting in an old canvas bag that I had to put them back in the toolbox . May come in handy one of these days...………… . Fortunately I only have a mild dose of Millaritis , so I didn`t spend any time polishing them!

I suspect that Registering for an on-line account with Halfords is the best way to go. YOu can then request that they email you with their offers/specials in advance of the stampede. Look for their "tray" sets. These tend to be very good value and are excellent if you want to use drawers or tool box storage in the future.

If you have not already done so? It may be worth a Google to see if anybody is selling the same set and for how much they are going for?

You may get a nice surprise that will make you think more about selling.

You know the rules of selling these things. The second they re out of your possession/ownership, you will need that spanner that you never used in xx years of it sitting there annoying you.

I try and throw little away now for exactly this reason. I have retained some older tool boxes that are used for these sets, some of which are just way too nice to be sold or chucked.

Well, I`ve been Brucied again! I just know that if I get rid of them I will land up buying an old Ford pop or similar project to play with when I eventually get around to retiring , or reducing from my current 4 day week . The C240 is on the "make up your mind to keep or not" list as it is now rarely used . The Boxster only comes out to play when its fair weather so another "project" is just possible!

Thanks Bruce.... I did that last night about midnight lol.
A 3 for the price of 2 offer with 20% off for a trade card and then a further 5% off for using my firms smart spending app makes Halfords advanced range pretty hard to beat. I love snap on but am at the age when I can’t justify the spend anymore.

Their Trade Card can produce fantastic deals with LEDS Being up to 50% off the shelf price and their Advanced Tools being a great bargain, especially when you add in the no quibble replacement for life.
