Saturday nights aren't the best for eBay I've decided...

I was showing my team-mate that prices for large 4x4s are dead-cheap, and ended up bidding on a car for the timbuktu challenge...

Guess what... I've bought a car!

I had planned to buy a Suzuki Vitara, a W123 or a W201 depending 9on cost/condition... Instead, I've gotten a 1992 Mitsubishi Shogun, V6 (3l) with 114K miles and full service history.

The two major advantages (in my half-drunk opinion) are air-condition, bull bars and off-road floodlights...

I'm probably going to collect it tomorrow, so I'll post pics as soon as I get him...

They are good cars, well done. The V6 is a bit juicy but the 2.8 diesel 4 wasn't that light on fuel either. It sounds ace, really deep and basy engine note.

JEALOUS, I havnt managed to get drunk today so im sat here sober,

get some angle grinder discs........!!!!

not been drunk since 1994 (no addiction issues just dont like booze) and ive bought nothing stupid whilst drunk as ebay was not around in 1994 (nor was the internet as we see/use it today)

A friend of mine has to pass a breatherlyser test before he is allowed to bid on eBay, following the time he spent all of his wife's bonus a a Suzuki Grand Vitara. He lives in London, the car was located in the outer hebrides. We made him get a train up to get it!

I got first Merc when I was drunk, spent all my student loan on it, W210 E230,

I have heard that after a certain time of the day Gmail makes you pass a maths test before it will send your email, this is a gerat function, my ebay password if now long and complicated, not for security, just stops me typing it in when I drink,

Good morning!

Just to clarify, I wasn't drunk, I had just had a few glasses of wine at dinner.... and it doesn't take much to make me do silly things!

Looking back, it didn't look too stupid, the advert looks like an ok car... let's see if I can get a hold of the seller today!

It won't be stupid if everything falls into place and your very happy with the deal. Otherwise..........................   :D

Good luck with this VERY thirsty beast

Regards
John

Ouch... I see what you meant by thirsty!

I went, and while not really as described, the important things seemed ok so I've now got even less space on my driveway!

The "negatives"
- Seriously dirty... I've already stripped the rear and removed the carpet, hozed it down and quite literally mud was coming out
- Front offside indicator is cracked, might look for a new lens or otherwise some orange tape dependent on cost
- Dent near said front-offside indicator
- Central locking non-functional, front driver lock seems to be extremely moody (might look for a second-hand lock from a breaker, but I'm not too fussed)
- Sunroof electrics operate VERY slowly, seems like either they are rusted shut or filled with gunk... I didn't open the roof more than a few cm's as I was worried it would break in the open position. Might consider dismantling it and cleaning it out... worst case scenario I can always silicone it shut...
- Only one key, remote alarm fob missing
- Paintwork faded to the point that it looks matt in places

That said, it's only ever had one owner from new, a fairly large amount of service history (I declined the offer to go through every single service leaflet) and every single MOT all the way back since it was made (I couldn't stop him from showing them all one by one).

The engine looked in pretty good condition (as verified by a friend of mine who knows more than I do), and other than a blister on the top of the door and one on the bonnet (I'm guessing stone chip) no visible rust. (I checked the wheel arches and underneath)

The belts were changed 3 years ago, but I think I may just change those again just in case along with all the oily fluids.

I've spent my day cleaning, and the car still looks horrendously mucky.... I'll post a picture after dinner.

Challenge Landy would be a safe bet.

Anyone in the middle of anywhere can fix them. Tried and tested.

However your stead has already been bought. :)

OK so im drunk now, thanks to internet access on my new phone I now own this;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=180297784451

I dont think its a bad buy, still dont think it gives as much value as the S class.....

Seems like a reasonably good buy to me assuming the description on the add is true and there's no rust around the car.

As for the Suzuki it might have a few cosmetic problems but the engine itself should be reliable and that's the main thing for what you're doing with it.

It's not a Suzuki ;) It's a Mitsubishi :p for some odd reason I decided to bid on a mitsubishi instead of on a suzuki!
