Seems good value to me. Not many around these days and this one has been looked after. Do agree that it looks low though.

My observations :
- the drivers front seat wear is not consistent with a mileage of 78K. The front seat wear would indicate a higher mileage.
- the car is most certainly lowered.
- not sure how someone could judge this car to have been looked after - to me it looks neglected.
- car has a mixture of front and rear bumpers which don't match. Obviously they have been colour coded at some stage together with the fitment of the front AMG style bumper. The rear bumper is pre facelift whilst the front bonnet, lights etc are facelift.

The owner has had the car for 11 years, and according to him its been regularly serviced, summer used and dry stored that why l said its been looked after. He also has a file of MOTs, service invoices etc. Milage could be checked at VOSA. Don't understand how scillyisles1 can say that it looks neglected, l've seen far worse than this advised as 'immaculate'.

Well, it's got damage to both corners of the front bumper and a dent in the nearside front wheelarch. The fact that this has not been repaired constitutes neglect.

Also, the only mention of it in the description is: "The body work is rust free but there are two scratches that are shown in the pictures." I'd hardly describe the damage depicted as "two scratches". I'd have expected a caring owner to at least have described how this damage was incurred and why it had not been repaired - or better still, to just have had it repaired.

All the ^ is incorrect, the bumper match and they are Carat Duchatelet. As for the rear being for prefacelift, their kit never offered a different one for facelift

The wear on the seats could quite easily be caused by short journeys consistant with the low mileage.

He might do 100 miles but be in and out of the car 10 times , whereas 100 miles on the motorway you might only get in and out once.

A wider set of wheels would make a huge difference to its stance/look.

It has a good spec (a/c, cruise, electric seat)

The damage noted is easily fixable - how it occured is irrelevant really. Its photographed and mentioned.

The other info is backed up by the DVLA and the Datacard (the bodykit/lowering was I assume a post build addition) - if it stacks up on inspection then its not a bad car.

Glass's show trade @ £3350 and a "sale" (not retail) price of £5295 (with 136k - no mileage adjustment for cars of this age) so his pricing is not too far adrift either - and low depreciation to boot.

I have two 1990 Mercedes both with more miles and much better condition leather seats, my wife's 06 102k miles clk seats with blue leather are infinitely superior, ditto the 98 SL with 72k.......I would be very dubious about the mileage based upon the interior condition which looks tatty and uncared for...
and don't even start me on the body!
My wallet would stay very firmly closed.

Ah so you mean I was right then ;) - car has been fitted with non standard bumpers (in this case Carat Duchalet ones) presumably either by the supplying dealer or some time after. I am surprised the seller has not mentioned this.

I think you were wrong. You said "car has a mixture of front and rear bumpers which don't match" and Dash has explained that they do match :dk:

There's a similar car being offered on an Australian website. They're looking for $AU 27,000, equivalent to say GBP18,000.

I'm always amazed at what second hand cars fetch in the UK. Good for buyers, not so great for sellers.

I agree it seems so, but blue leather always seems to wear out worse than black or mushroom... why? i dont know , the seats in my cab were in pretty similar shape at a similar milaege....

- the car is most certainly lowered. .

Yes, seems that way, likelyhood is that it was lowered the same time the Carat bumpers were added and probably sat on some matching larger Carat wheels, which have now gone MIA.... Not a biggie, as it could be something as simple as one got damaged and a replacement proved diffucult to source due rarity...

Proof will be in the pudding, if all the paperwork, receipts, mots and evidence is there to back up his claims... It will mean its far from neglected.... I mean a receipt for the wiring harness being replaced at a main dealer!.... not many W124's have been treated to this....

Incorrect, the car does not have a mixture of front and rear bumpers which dont match.... Both front and rear bumpers are matching Carat Bumpers.

Are your high mileage cars used mainly on the motorway ?

Thank you for all your comments on my car. I am not really in to my cars but have always had a Mercedes either as my main car or as in this case a fun summer car. Thank you for explaining the Carat Duchalet, I always wondered why kit had that on the boot lid!!!!! It originally came with very low profile tyres, I still own them but changed them due to the state of our farm drive! On the scratches yes that was me putting it away in a barn on dark night. I should have it fixed but never got round to it. I bought it from a large respected London showroom so I am sure the miles are correct, but I did not check. I still have the original invoice. As to the wear on the seats I only use it on short trips to and from work and local shopping on the weekend. I love this car and I apologise to other members if you feel I have not looked after it. It is a real joy to drive compared to my normal Landrover, now that is in a mess! Please could I have some advice on how to check if it has been lowered? If it does not sell I promise I will get the scratches taken out before it goes away for the winter. Thanks again for your comments,
