Opinion of this E55 on eBay please?

That looks stunning, no mention regards service history though (which is vital on an AMG).

So long as it's looked after it should always retain some value, being an Estate may also help in that respect. However, it depends what it goes for - I wouldn't want to pay over the odds for it. Remember big petrol engines aren't popular right now...

Thanks. Potentially seeing it today, I'll go over the paperwork with a fine toothed comb.

What would you say is a fair value?

A very, very nice looking car, and if it's all as it seems, then a bargain IMHO. I paid IRO £14k for my saloon last Sept, albeit with 52,000. I've been assured time and time again that the engines and 'boxes are bullet-proof.

For a start, he's had that up for sale (off & on) since before I bought my current car at the beginning of December.

The photos he's taken are terrible. Having said that, they are better than the first lot which showed a dirty car, inside & out.

Has the seller mentioned the service history to you?

Do you want me to give it the once over?

I have done a little work for Mercman in the past so they should know me.

Thank you both.

I have run a HPI report and it is clear, though it does not have any mileage data.

It is in Southampton, though he is driving to me for a viewing of my car for a swap deal. I may hold off on the deal until I can get it into MBS for a quick inspection.

That would be absolutely amazing if you could!!!:thumb::thumb:

According to the last text from him, he is on his way up here now though, I'll see if he turns up.

He's coming to you? ;)

I'll look forward to seeing the photos soon...

Assuming:

1. it has a full history (with most of the early ones from MB and the newest from a reputable specialist)
2. it looks like a clean straight car
3. without any after-sales backup / warranty

Personally, I wouldn't go above £7.5k. I would stretch to £8.2k if it had full MB history with evidence of recent £££'s spent.

Be careful though - that one seems to have a very small engine...

...and what's with the whisky and coke on centre console?

Well, I was prepared to do the deal today, but there are some issues which I'd like to investigate first.

Just got back in just now

Bad things..

1 SRS light is on.
2 Airmatic warning light
3 Dent in offside rear door above handle, encompassing swage line/crease
4 Offside wheelarch graze, needs spraying
5 Sunroof does not slide back without assistance. Rises/lowers ok. May just need lubing.

Good things

1 ****ing fast
2 Enough equipment/spec to meet my expectation
3 He's happy with my car as part-ex

I'll have to wait for Olly's advice before proceeding. The Vendor is aware of my concerns and that I want it inspected, and fault free, and I have to allow for bodywork costs in the deal.

I'm thinking walk.... As nice as it looks, I feel it maybe a dog.

Aye, spending more on a fresher one maybe the way to go.

Shame, as the deal is appealing on a monetary/hassle factor.

Get it looked at by someone like Olly or MBS.

The "hassle" of a "shed" will be more than the convenience saved by a seller that offers you all the convenience.

Doesn't it seem to be leaking some fluid in one of the photos?

Freshly washed.

Chap drove it up from Southampton today, it's fine. :thumb:
