Well, our shinny new E220 arrived today.

I must say I'm more than impressed by it after just one day and 60 or so miles of driving.

I didn't realise just how stiff the suspension of our little B Class Sport was until I drove the E Class. its doesn't shake your fillings out over potholes like the B Class did.

I'm REALLY impressed with the ILS after just driving back from Carlisle. I understand now why members here rave about the system.

The boot is just about big enough for Debbie's Quingo scooter (Yes, we're not doing the E Class 'Old Man Image' any favours with references to Scooters!!! :wallbash: )

My only negative thought so far is that the 18's look far too small on a car of this size. But being a lease car I'm not going to even consider changing those.

I've had a tiring day so I've yet to explore the Comand system or load any of our music onto it.

My Wife & 10 year old daughter absolutely love the car which in turn makes me a Happy Chap indeed.

It's not the C Class I wanted but for £209 pm it'll do us for a few years.

Ant. :D

Stunning! Happy for you buddy!

On a side note I want your garage!

Been keeping an eye out all day for this, that looks the bees knees mate. Love that colour

I like the wheels, I think you'll get used to them after the tenth time walking up to it to get in :)

You also got a saloon too, looks proper! :thumb: chuffed for ya mate

Congratulations Ant, I'm really pleased for you :thumb:

Hope you have very many very happy journeys in it

Nice motor, what colour is it . Is it tenorite?

Michael.

Right first time Michael. Yes, it's Tenorite Grey.

Very nice and I wish you all the health to enjoy it.

Cheers Steve. :thumb:

hehehe. That sectional door is 5m wide Stu. The Garage can fit the car and the van in easy, but the way I've taken the pics it looks tiny!!!

yes, I'm being picky. I'm sure I'll get used to them. 18's looked fine on the tiny B Class.

Cheers Phil. I'm sorry to say my review was not as professional as yours.

Cheers fellas. :thumb:

We love our E Estate. We get Mrs Red's Wheelchair, walking frame and crutches in the back easily, it's going to be a very difficult car to replace with anything other than another E Estate.

Incidentally Mrs Red has always said the B Class was the easiest car she'd ever come across to get in and out of, we just couldn't live with the hard suspension.

The 18" wheels are just fine, this is an E, it's about comfort and quality.

Love the car Ant. Congrats and I hope you and the family enjoy the E class upgrade.

Yes. Totally agree there. Deb said the same regarding getting in & out of the B. Nice height for the less mobile. That's why we considered the GLA but glad we didn't go there now.

The memory seats will be great for her. We've already programmed them for the highest position.

Daughter loves the arm rest in the back. (Simple things eh?) but slightly alarmed at the lack of heated rear seats. (We tested a 435d which had them)

We also thought about the estate for Debs stuff. Shame there was none available at the price we paid.

The estate is vast but has the same floorpan as the saloon, the boot liner is the same for the estate and saloon. Emma's dad has the saloon and we bought him a boot liner for Christmas which was identical to ours.

The seats in our SL adjust so much she can also get in and out of that just fine as long as I don't park next to a huge kerb.

Deb would probably like the GLC for ease of access with the seat in it's low position, but you absolutely must not have the optional side steps, they look great but are completely impractical. If a petrol version of that arrives in the UK we're interested.

Yes. We slotted a boot liner in within 20 minutes of the car being dropped off. I had also cut a piece of 9mm ply (sanded edges because I'm a bit like that) to sit underneath the liner. The reason being that Debs scooter left a mark through the boot liner of the B Class to the carpet on the boot floor.

This time the E Class will not be damaged in the same way.

God, I'm such a bore

My C class is a softer ride than the B Class (my courtesy car is that model B you had). So I'd imagine the E is more so.

So that's a W213?

No it's an outgoing W212. The W213 is not quite out yet but close.

We went from a C220 to an E220 and it's very unlikely we'll be going back to a C.

The ride in the E is excellent, our SL feels firm in comparison which is no surprise, it's a sports GT car.

However if I've got to do a round trip from Surrey to Yorkshire and back it's the E that get's picked. it's like driving my lounge.

Looks good, cracking price too:thumb:
I was surprised how light the steering is on an E compared to our SLK, but i believe the B class is also quite light.

Ah so a W212 facelift. Looks very different at the front from the really angular mean looking pre-facelift.

A colleague went from a C180 to an E350. He won't be going back either. :D

Yes, at that price it certainly is the outgoing 212.

And who knows, when it's time to hand it back the timing might be just perfect for a 213 bargain. :D

Or indeed a S205 facelift. :dk:

Either way. I'm sure we'll love looking after this one for a while.

Thanks everyone. :thumb:
