Not sure if anyone will be able to recognise this fault or offer advice - but here goes.

If I receive an outlook message, say from this forum with a topic reply hyperlink - if I 'click' on the link, nothing happens and task manager reveals that Outlook is 'not responding' and I have to close it down. Alternatively, if I right click on a word that has had an embedded link attached the 'properties' option is 'greyed out' so I can not see the full URL.

I suspect Outlook has been stuffed by a windows or office update.

Should I just remove Outlook via add/remove and reinstall OR is there a repair option?

think this is one of the updates that adds a security option, take a look in the options menu? and have a poke around security. Other than that there was a program for full blown Outlook (Not Express) which allows you to change the security. Will have a search for it if you have not luck.

Paul.

Thanks Paul

I have had a good poke around in Outlook security and found nuffin!

Norman

Norman are you using Word as your email editor? Does the same thing happen when you click on hyperlinks via Word?

Also are you using Office 2000 or XP?

Cheers,
Steve

OK - sorry for the delay.

I am using XP Pro (SP2 - Build 2600) and MS Outlook 2002 (SP3).
I do not use Word as my email editor and hyperlinks in Word documents work fine.

Grateful for any pointers.

Thanks for the help and good advice guys.
I followed it all up and spent a considerable time trying to fix this problem. To be honest I almost bored myself to a standstill on this - so gave up.

It started working fine yesterday without any intervention from me. Bloody funny kit this software marlarkey!
