Hi All,

Newbie alert. I have been a lurker on the forum for some time and found some really useful info when needed. I thought best to sign up as a member on here given I am now the owner of a W204 C63 AMG.

As per the title I have primarily owned the ‘other' fast German cars upto now but this is only my first Mercedes and first auto! Previous cars of note include BMW M3, Audi’s (S3 through to the R8), and Porsches (911 Turbo!)

My early impressions are: -

Probably the best exhaust note of any car I have owned and I don’t think I will get tired it.

Very well built and drives solid, I am loving the idea of one minute comfortably sitting in stop start traffic, to it turning into a monster when the road opens up with just a push of the throttle

The seats are great and hug you in place really well, although if I am honest I think the interior plastic dash looks a bit cheap against what I would expect from the marque (I have an early pre-facelift)

Finally this is probably the most subtle car I have had and I am quite liking the fact that it can blend in with the masses and is truly a wolf in sheep clothing, my previous cars especially the Porker and R8 attracted too much attention and whilst I didn't mind it I am certainly not one who buys a car seeking that kind of thing.

oh and finally, yes the MPG is absolutely shocking and by far the worse of any car i’ve owned :o)

I have a couple of newbie questions while I am here which I am hoping people can help with: -
  1. I seem to have a missing Mercedes logo on my engine cover and it looks rather odd without it. I believe Merc only sell full engine covers so wanted to know whether anyone else has any solutions to this?
  2. Service Intervals. I have a Service B upcoming but the car has literally only done 1700 miles since the last service a year ago. I have had a look at the oil and it is literally still looking brand new and almost see through. In the world of long life services which is common on previous cars I have owned, how have people serviced their Mercs when doing very little mileage every year.
Thanks in advance for any help on the above, and looking forwards to being a active member on here.

I’ve come from the other side in last month, best move I’ve ever made as yet!!?
DM me for details of this Sunday’s meet and drive if your up for it? It’s on south side of M25 junction 10

Hi and welcome!

Regarding the Mercedes badge Mercedes star has lifted off engine cover

Service intervals are 12 months regardless of mileage.

Thanks, good tip to try a centre cap in the whole. For some reason the size of the hole in the cover seems bigger than 7.5cm but will measure it before attempting this.

Seems a bit of a shame having to drop perfectly good oil and have the pleasure of a big bill from MB on something they looked at only 1700 miles ago...but best bite the bullet and get it sorted.

Hi mate, thanks for the offer, this months meet may come too early for me as have already got commitments this weekend. I am however up for future meets so will be in touch.

Is that area local to you as much of what I get involved in is that way but of course in 63’s we’re willing to travel [emoji12]

It definitely isn't local to me, anything around north of the M25 (south mimms) junction is probably best for me but on occasion nothing wrong with a bit of a drive.

I have tend to found that in other forums meets around the north of M25 typically do quite well as people from midlands head south and London head north to meet in the middle somewhere

Welcome to the forum:thumb:

Look out for a summer GTG at MSL in Birmingham for a dyno day.
There is another GTG already planned on the southcoast that attracts plenty of cars and owners.
***DATE CHANGE for Benz on The Green 2018*** 5th of May 2018.

Thanks for the heads up. Will look out for the dates.

I spoke to MB, and they quoted a Service B at around £619.12. Given the car has done around 1500 miles since the last service thats nearly 40p per mile on service costs yikes!!

Will need to drive the car more to get better value from having to drop the oil every year regardless of miles!

Well considering this is your pride and joy, bite the bullet and get the service done. Besides, it will give you piece of mind, because if something were to go wrong later and you'd skipped the service, you'd be kicking yourself.

In the meantime, enjoy your ride. I've never driven a 63 in any guise, so I have this to look forward to, especially when I cash in my pensions and get a nearly new CLS63.

;)

Get your name down for this one. The spaces fill up pretty fast.
