neilireland. You said the tensioners were ok normally, if so how is the chain jumping?
Either the tensioner must be going slack until filled with oil or there just isn't enough interference between the chain and cam sprocket.
 
this is getting interesting. if anyone cares to check out podmo's posts this sounds like the second 271 engine with slipped timing in as many weeks...

Noticed. His has only done 57k as well. :eek: I wonder what mileage this one has done.
There has to be either a design fault or duff tensioners causing this.
 
The mileage i have done them from is 60k on....
No its the chain never had problems with tensioners.
i measured the chains new and old and there was a link or sometimes link and half stretched on the old chain.
 
Reading this post sounds similar to my problem, what readings should the compression test show without a chain jumping?
 
Sorry, mine is a VITO 113 petrol 2.0​
