Hi all

We have lots of members who, when looking at brakes compare our Pagid/Textar/Epad range to the Mixtex versions which are available on eBay and various other sellers. While its true that the same company owns, and produces these - there are HUGE differences in the actual products, which justify the few extra pennies in price.

As a forum, MB Club are probably the most clued up, and you guys seldom ask the questions but I think it'll be interesting to see the Mixtex range, compared to Pagid equivalent.

Mixtex are sold as an after market, product and available though hundreds (thousands?) of different companies in the UK, Mixtex do not supply any vehicle manufacturers with pads. - We would typically compare our Eicher range to these parts.

Pagid is exclusive to us in the UK, and are an genuine, Original Equipment Supplier. For example many VW/Audis/Seat/Skoda/Vauxhall/Porsche vehicles will have be supplied with Pagid Pads, on the production line.

We've taken a set of pads off the shelf to compare them, and see what are the actual differences, and why you should choose Pagid from EuroCarParts

On the left you have the contents of the Pagid box
• With OEM shims
• With Bolts
• With accessories
• Material “PA660”
• OE Tampon branding
• Different R90 numbers

On the right, the Mintex pads:
• Aftermarket shims
• With Bolts
• No accessories
• Material “M1109/1 GF”
• Ink jet branding
• Different R90 number

There are 3 obvious differences,
> Firstly the R90 approval number is different - meaning these passed a different test than the Pagid ones - If these were the same product they would have the same code stamped here.

> Shims - Where a car uses shims, if you don't replace these, or they are not of the highest quality you risk a non-perfect contact and then the problems associated, such as pad squeal or uneven wear, although not the end of the world, the few extra pennies make life easier when fitting them, and peace of mind knowing the complete setup is new and has been replaced

> Most importantly, Material code - TMD, the manufacturers of Pagid and Mixtex have hundreds of different materials, each have different characteristics depending on the vehicle, brand value and if applicable the vehicle manufacturers specification. This shows that the friction material, is different on the Pagid range, than the cheaper Mixtex pads. Quite interestingly, we have 1 set of Pagid pads in stock with 2 different materials! Why? One of them is designed for the general public, and have been formulated while working with VW for that part, The other is a modified compound, especially for taxis which do an abnormal about of brake use stop, starting and holding the brakes at the traffic lights. - The vehicle? - The trusted VW Sharan (aka Galaxy)

Hopefully, this makes it clear, that the Pagid pads are or a higher quality than the Mintex products, and if you want a genuine, Original Equipment Quality Pad, then Pagid is the best choice! (in our opinion :) )

to back this up, don't forget that you can get an extended 25 month / 25,000 mile warranty when you buy Pagid pads and Discs - Simply register here: Terms and Conditions (UK)

Batter is what you fry fish / spam fritters in , you can also make Yorkshire puddings and pancakes with it.

There's only one way to find out...

Anyone aware of actual laboratory testing of these items similar to those for car tyres? - otherwise brake pads and discs are a matter of "religious belief". Amazing for something so important.

Does the MBCLUB25 discount, referred to in the original post, still apply? I've tried to use it a couple of times recently but the system stated 'expired or no longer in use', or similar.

Is it Mixtex or Mintex ? I like genuine pads. :)

I used Pagid pads with the original MB discs some time ago and found them as good as the MB pads on previously. A few weeks ago I changed the discs and pads for Pagid items and they are every bit as good genuine MB discs & pads.

A lot of Pagid pads and disks are made in china. There's a video somewhere of Euro Car Parts Staff in ECP sweat shirts Putting the pads in Pagid Boxes at the docks somewhere. I personally have had to take two sets of disks back (Pagid) back. Not for my Mercedes though.

Hi Tony,

Would be very interested to see this - Its certainly not something which i have heard about.

I've looked on-line and cant find such a video - would you care to pass it onto us, so i can get our product team to investigate

Hi Tony,

You may have tried during our sale over the weekend (and the end of the month) - During this time all codes are suspended.

The codes are back up and running (MBCLUB30 gives 30% off brakes)

Well i would actually like to know honestly where Pagid parts are made. I was told about the boxing up of parts at the docks some years ago by i think someone at a parts factors. T.

So it is just hearsay? Thought you said you saw a video where is the link? Why would workers in ECP clothes be boxing Pagid parts?

PAGID are a part of TMD friction who have nothing to do with ECP. http://www.tmdfriction.com/

Info about this in the technical reports section on: ifriction.com - Braking News

To the ECP rep maybe you could do the same thread but TEXTAR vs PAGID?
