Viano ex long, 651 2014. S211 646 2009 (till the Gov't drones blow 'em off the road)
On the Vito I sprayed the 2 rear panels gloss black to look like the window is extended, like the Viano. It looks better.

I did this last year with cellulose. Masked keyed, primed and sprayed. To get good cover and good finish it needs a reasonable amount but I can't stop it creating runs.

I believe 15 degrees is a min temp, so I've tried at that, and it runs.

A while ago while using gloss black caliper paint, when cooler, I noticed I could apply a lot w/o runs. Great I thought. Today at approx 22 degrees I tried that paint, yep it runs.

Unfortunately I can't put the van on its side as then I couldn't get to the other panel, any ideas?

Vinyl wrap on those panels would be easier and reversible?

Light costs is your answer then. I suspect you’re applying the paint too thick in persuit of a good/glossy finish out of the can? Get a few light coats on and you can always flat and polish it after :thumb:

You have to use a good technique when using rattle cans.
Pass over the job in an arc and just blip the nozzle lightly on each pass but don’t keep going over the same spot. Use several light coats to get a decent finish, remember rattle cans are almost full of thinners with a smidgen of colour added.

Rattle cans made up by decent auto paint suppliers are very good. I had to paint my shark fin when I upgraded my audio, used plastic primer, base coat and good clear coat. The correct movement when painting is to stay parallel with the panel, if you use an arc movement you will get more paint in the middle of the job and less coverage at the ends.

There is a UK brand called Hycote that makes acrylic spray paint which is very good. The Range sells it £5 a can.
