PCMCIA adapter slot

I just bought a 1.5 TB drive that was FAT32 formatted and at least my Comand supports both FAT(16) and FAT32, I assume the same for the media interface.

But I thought the media interface too has a limitation of max 4000 files, at least according to the W212 user manual. This would mean any partition larger than about 16 gigabytes does not add value.

Do you mean you can access more than 4000 files/songs with your MI (on a single partition)?

I haven't tried personally so it's all speculation. I will try some day soon hopefully.

Using my Ipod Nano as it gives a much better interface than USB. Going to get a new 160Gb Ipod just for the car so I can put all my music on without hassle.

If the car handled video from USB (it does but you have to buy a £300 cable/interface) then I would put movies on the USB disk and leave that in the car as well.

The media interface should be included with the COMAND system in the W204 as it is in the new E class. Its far better to be able to control media using the COMAND controls and it allows playback of video too.

I have Comand on a newly acquired June 2008 W204 which does not seem to have the media interface. Have I been shortchanged ???

Comand APS PCMCIA

I have recently purchased new C Class (SE Exec) with Comand APS (Aux port inly in glove compartment, no USB)

Regarding the PCMCIA slot Mercedes have advised me it only takes 2GB Compact Flash (or SD) cards. Comand APS manual says the system accepts 16 bit only cards (which appear to be max 2GB from my research on www)

Has anyone had any succes with cards greater then 2GB (ie 32 bit) for playing MP3. I would like to go to ideally 16GB or 32GB compact flash) If so I would appreciate info on what card to order + adapter.

I have used 16 GB CF cards in my W221 and the W204 should have at least the same capability. The maximum number of titles is a more limiting factor than the the car capacity.

I'm also thinking of buying a 160gb iPod classic for the car. Then I learn you also need to buy an adapter otherwise it won't charge! So far still running on a 4gb USB flash disc.

Which 16GB CF Card

Diesel Benz

Please could you advise the description of the 16GB CF Card you are using, (eg Sandisk Ultra II 30MBS, Transcend TS16GCF133 16GB 133X ETC.)

Reason I ask is that suppliers whether internet or retail all say they will not refund if I purchase and the CF card doesn't work.

Welcome any other posts advising CF cards which work with Comabnd APS higher then 2GB (16Gb or 32GB ideal)

I have the following purchased the following adapter ...

I also have a Sandisk PCMCIA to CF adapter but it looks a bit different. Perhaps mine is an older design.

I have used Sandisk CF cards but I think the 16 GB card is a cheaper Kingston card. I'm pretty sure any decent CF card would work as long as the PCMCIA adapter is OK. If your adapter really is from Sandisk, it should be good.
