Car
SLK55 (R172) 62.
Trundling through the road works on the M25 at Godstone at 5:00am on Friday morning at 50mph - flipping pheasant appears from under the axle of a tanker in front of me - freezes in the middle of the road and bang !!

Offside fog light pushed back into the cavity behind the grill ..........:wallbash:

Hopefully get some time tomorrow to see if I can remount it without the expense of a trip to the garage - though the message of 'Front Offside Fog light' in the instrument display would suggest not :(

Unlucky Bryan. Hope it's a cheap and quick fix.

A pheasant appeared from nowhere in a country lane when I was out in my C55 - it hit the centre wire grille perfectly in the middle. No sign of the pheasant when I stopped, but a bit of bending and reshaping and the grille was fine. I was very lucky!

I hit one in South Wales (a pheasant that is)
You know what the annoying part about it was ?
The driver behind me pickerd it up, no doubt had a nice dinner that night
If I would of picked it up - ITS ILLEGAL
ps Car was fine
pps they do freeze naturely

I hit one in a hired vauxhal 3.0 elite estate , never seen such a mess . The car needed a front bumper , a fog light and a few other bits and bobs.
Pheasants either fly or run depending on the time of year . When ready to lay eggs the run rather than fly , but in winter tend to try and fly away .

Seems I was lucky. Actual damage was restricted to a blown bulb, a broken moulding at the back of the bumper which holds the light, and three clips broken holding the grill in place.

A bit of araldite on the bracket and some supporting plastic strips for added strength - and a couple of drops to hold the grill in place.

A new bulb ordered on line and delivered the following day - wrong fitting !! Arrrggghh
Glued into the housing and all well until yesterday - bulb fell out and is now illuminating the inside of the bumper :)

All good fun :)

You got off lightly!

Try hitting a fully grown 5st Male badger head on, then you'll know what Carnage is!

Pheasants must be feeling particularly-suicidal at the moment.
I hit one and killed it about 3 weeks ago.
Two more tried their best to commit suicide last week - But I managed to avoid contact.
They really are pretty-hapless when it comes to road sense.
Nice to eat, though !

Once, many years ago, I was hooning to work in my Mark 1 Escort and came around a corner as a pheasant ran out. Bang. I stopped, walked back, looked at it for a while then picked it up and chucked it the boot. That night I dropped it off for my old man to hang, pluck and enjoy.

I saw him the next week. "Enjoy the pheasant?" "Oh yes, it was lovely, beautiful and tender". The look on his face made me doubt his honesty. "You didn't eat it, did you?"

"No son. I don't know how fast you were going or how many times you backed over it for another go, but every single bone in it's body was broken and the flesh looked like it had been fired out of a howitzer . It would have been like eating a blancmange full of nails."
