£1.40 a litre is already on the cards soon.

Not taking into account the issues in the Middle East - it had been predicted that drivers will be paying £8.00 a gallon come the summer 2011.

I think this is the beginning of the end for big engined cars a la 1970's.

Thoughts anyone?

Well for someone that bought a 5.5ltr v8 last october thats not the best news(although not unexpected:mad:)).The real problem is that if fuel prices do reach the forecasted prices then everything else will go up inline which in turn will affect everyone(not only big engined petrol drivers:eek:).

Errr, I decided just yesterday that the diesel Volvo XC90 I test drove was under powered so I'm now in the market for a T6 twin turbo model!
I know petrol is going up and I also know it will come down again in a while (years maybe). The diesel has a premium of about 1.5K on it over the petrol, that’s a lot of miles I need to drive before I break even.

You'll just be hit that much harder...

Thankfully i only do about 6-7k max(in the v8)so could be worse,it's the weekly shopping bill were most people will see a difference.

Thats about £2,300 a year(£195 ish a month)based on £1.50 a ltr for me then.

I spent 6k in fuel last year just getting to work and back... getting to the point where I need to get my firm to allow me to work from home a couple of days a week.

Remap the diesel for the power.

What you'll lose in depreciation on the T6 will far outweigh the premium on buying the diesel.

Nobody wants a used T6 unless they are cheap.

You know what I'm saying...petrol is only going one way and thats up.

You are getting 30mpg on average??? No way??

I think you need to do a brim to brim test!

My wifes low mileage '04 1.2 Clio manages an average of 35mpg.
