Whenever I stop from driving, usually when i've only driven a small distance, and especially when i'm reversing into my space in my car park (residential) There is a strong smell of petrol from the exhaust fumes.

Also, if I rev the engine a lot, theres a build up of what seems to be petrol on the floor just behind the exhaust, on the floor.

Should I be seriously worried and/or how can I sort this out?
Is it affecting my fuel consumption, i suspect it probably is.

For a short trip the mixture is still probably rich as the engine wouldn't be fully warm, hence the strong smell of unburnt fuel. I expect what you have behind the car is condensation in the exhaust, again from a short run. I always keep a note of my mpg from eac fillup, that way you spot if the consumption takes a tumble, indicative of possible problems.

Suspect the car is overfuelling due to a failed MAS ( exactly what ours was doing )

£220 later after posting the MAS to Automotive ECU suppliers and all was right again.

Is it a bit sluggish when you pull away ?

The droplets will just be water vapour , nothing to worry about.
