Phone not recognised in cradle

No fuse charts in the manual. They are on a separate single sheet and the MB designated storage for the chart is in the cavity at the end of the dashboard (drivers side) but unfortunately they go missing. You may be lucky.

Checking the w203 fuse chart it appears that there are possibly 4 fuses for the Telephone System. 13 + 16 Boot fusebox / 40 end of dashboard fusebox / 44 engine bay fusebox.

You may need this...

My fuse diagram was still present in the dash compartment and seemed untouched as it was a little dusty.
Fuses 13+16 appear to be for voicetronic which I do not have and these are not present in the boot fusebox.
Fuse 44 in the engine bay was not present in the fuse holder, so on the off-chance it should have been there, I have put one in.
Fuse 36 was present in the dash fusebox.
Fuse 40 position in the dash fusebox has no fuse holder and appears unwired.

So I was dealing with fuse 36 and possibly fuse 44 which I added.

Pulling and replacing these fuses appears to have no visible effect, I still got the NO PHONE message on the display and I could see no signs that any reset was taking place. I do not know if I would see or hear any reset happening. I tested both when fuse was out and after replacing, one at a time.

I had similar issues with my 2010 E class and the Nokia 6230i

Some versions of the phone work, others don't.

This is what MB have tested as compatible.......

Approved phone software versions: 3.15, 4.28, 5.24, 5.35, 5.50

I know other versions work as I had them.

You may have to change your phone as you won't get firmware updates now. lots of these phones about as they work well with MB cars. I'm sure i still have a few.

Mercedes-Benz Bluetooth Connectivity

Trying to read through all of that and decipher what is relevant to me is a maze, it seems like much if not all of it refers to using bluetooth.
One thing that caught my attention was that when the NO PHONE message shows, then you need to press a wheel on the MB phone. As I cannot get past the NO PHONE message it is quite likely that I might need too press something too, but what on the Nokia I do not know.
This all seems to be a nightmare of a system, extremely difficult to figure out. On top of that, I think it is saying that it does not even give charging once connected!!
