Been reading these forums for couple months and it sure helped a lot in chosing the car - E220 cdi.
Many thx to all contributors, especially to RichardM who I bothered few times via PM.

Off to Jacksons Direct , Poole , tomorrow to show my new baby way home:bannana:

should have the following:

E222 cdi, metallic silver, auto, anthracite leather, parktronic,
phone prewiring, heated seats, cd changer.

Can't wait to see it :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

ps. and yes, the nickname is supposed to be a lough:D

Excellent news mate, glad we could help :D

Hope everything goes well tomorrow and can't wait for your first review and the pics.

Good choice of motor. The 220 gives adequate performance with good economy.

Is the car new, if so how long was the waiting list?

CONGRATULATIONS:D Good Luck tomorrow....Hope everything goes well.....enjoy your new ride.....:D

btw is it a classic, elegance or an avantgarde?
Dont forget to post some pics :)

yeah, forgot to mention - it's an avantgarde.

thx Richard, you've been a great help, muchos appreciated !

Dieselman, the car is new and my waiting time was just over 6 weeks (yes, six weeks). I should have picked it up last friday(arrived from Germany last monday) but I couldn't make it.
To make things even nicer, I managed to get 3% off the list price too. The only bummer was that Merc increased their prices from October (by about 3%) so it ate my discount but then again I only ordered the car on 27th September and couldn't avoid it :(

Those that have been chasing new E class (especially diesel ones)
will appreciate waiting time and discount even more. Been to quite a few dealers and quoted waiting times were in the region of 4 months. Asking about any sort of discount was absolutely out of question and on few ocassions was met with sarcastic smiles which drove me crazy. "We definitely don't give any discounts on E class - we don't have to" was the most recent response, blunt but probably true...
Looked around their web sites and quite often found a year old cars with only a grand below the list price. That was painful. Never seen anything like that before
Than I came across http://www.autoebid.com
basically, you go in there, input your requirements and the guy that runs it (his name is Amin) tries to match it via his network of dealer(s). His prices are roughly 3.5% off dealers list price and with a bit of luck (like in my case) you might be matched within few days and have the car delivered seriously quick. He, in return, takes 1% commision off list price which still works out fine for a buyer , at least those like me who are after E diesel.

hope my experience will help few people get their cars quicker and cheaper

:D

roll on tomorrow  :bannana:

Synergy, ur right these cars are hard to come buy used.

Anyway I couldn't wait till Feb or march for my E220Cdi Avant so i bought a demo. Got a decent discount.

I tried several dealers as well, even the What car target chaps..they offered 4.5% off list. That for me wasn't enough since these cars will gain to lose about 5k in 1st year depreciation. I was given around 1500 off list with 200 above px value for my car. It was a good deal but i needed the car now so got a demo at a bigger discount. The car is coming today for test drive then back to dealers for valet etc.

the best way to negotiate is to ring up the dealership, never go into the showroom that shows ur keen.

Will keep u informed of how it goes.
