Play in steering

There is some play in my steering wheel when I move it from side to side. I have been told that I may be able to take this up on the box. Could any one offer advice on how and where this can be done. I did it on my Pajero a few years ago and it was quite simple

I don't think this model has a steering box.

It doesn't have a steering box. It has a rack

You should first get the car on a ramp and check all the track rods, balljoints and bushes for play as I would have thought that this is the most likely cause on your car.

Also check the mounting for the rack itself while you are down there.

Thanks for all the replies. The car has been on the ramps and the bottom of the steering rack is worn and drivers side ball joint has some play. Now need to find some parts to replace it
