Does anyone have the tv-turner comand install instructions for W203 ?

Or any other MB bulletin on the subject.

This is tv-turner A 220 820 08 97
the comand 2.0 e bosch.
Thank you

Hi, welcome ot the forum.

I dont have detailed instructions as per MB workshop manuals , but I have installed TV to work with comand.

First step is to determine if your car is prewired for TV or not? IF not then you will need to buy a TV wiring loom either from Ebay or your friendly MB dealer. You will also need TV antennas and a TV tuner mounting bracket. I belive it fits to the right hand side of the boot.

Antenna are a matter of choice - either MB OEM with amps etc, or aftermarket Clarion / Kenwood windscreen types or my favourites - Hirschmann Bumper mount Cellphone arials. 1 pair in each Bumper - these are sold by MB dealers also.

Please let iu know what you have/have not already got and we can help you from there.

I have this type of tv-turner A 220 820 08 97 and this type of comand 2.0E but my MB is not prewired.
Thanks

Hi

So you need to buy 1 Tv to Comand wiring loom and

Tv diversity antennas -

Whilst i know about the Bumper mount ones, the easiest are probably those that fix to the inside of the rear screen in each corner. - available on ebay I think and also via MBENZNL or good Car audio installers.

I would have thought the the TV Pre-wiring has everything installed, just the tuner needs to be fitted and hey presto! Do I still need extra aerials, I thought that the aerial on the roof with the comand is the main aerial.

I agree - you should just need the TV tuner, there will be somehwere in the car the loose ends that connect to the tuner, ie 4 x Arial plugs, 1 x power ISO , 1 x comand C2 type 18 way connector. these will be all together taped up.

Can you send a picture of your comand ? 2.5 is usually just for the older S class whilst comand 2.0 is for all other cars

the 2.0 means double din ie it fits in an opening in the dash the same size as 2 normal head units in height, wheras the 2.5 din is 2 .5 times the height of a normal head unit.

startreck66,

to answer your question , the answer is yes you can fit a tv tuner to work with your comand 2 unit.

Best person to supply a full kit is MBenzNL - he has tuner, loom & antenna in stock and will i belive provide fitting instructions - but if you get stck I could prob help .

How can I easily check if we're pre-wired for the TV tuner. We've got a 2002 S320 with COMAND 2.5, Mercedes Integrated Nokia Phone (6210 not 6310 ;-( ! ) and Sat Nav. I'd rather not have to hack the car to bits but would now like to add the TV tuner. I'm hoping it's something we could just plug in! I've been advised that I need the following:
A 220 820 08 97.

Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Look on your datacard for the vehicle (its in the back of the service book), at the bottom there are loads of 3 digit codes. Im 99% sure that 860 means TV, and 861 means TV pre-wiring. So, if you dont have 861 you dont have the prewiring.

On the S class, you need to add the wiring and a new aerial module at top of the windscreen (and various brackets). There are 2 MB looms, one with rear TV screen wiring, one without. Might be worth considering buying the one with rear TV screen wiring since you can add that sometime later easily then (and i doubt there is much/any price difference from the MB dealer, they seem to have very strange pricing for bits of wire and fibre).

If you are in Camberley, I know an experienced MB tech nearby that will probably quote very reasonably to install it all

Cheers
Richard

and if you got the route with the rear screen loom ..... I have said screen & bracket crying out for a new home!

Ask your dealer to print you out an FDOK it will list all the Vehicle equipment. I've no TV kit added to my comand but would love to buy one.
