I was fortunate to be able to spend the morning with Porsche driving the new Cayman.

Very interesting experience. Any other Cayman owners or drivers on here?

no but I've got my 24hrs with 997 tomorrow

You'll have fun! Thought for the day "Is a 911 work two Caymen?". I'm not so sure it is.

Is that the particular car you drove? Or did you drive an S model? Thats only the 2.7 with the modified boxster engine... I was intrigued by the affordability of one of those. If it was just the basic 2.7 you drove I'd be interested to hear your thoughts

Yup well spotted it was a Cayman (not an S)

Fors.
Looks good, especially from certain angles.
Handling is fantastic- limits are sky high (tested in the dry)
Seats good.
Build quality good.
Loads of design touches that are nice.
lots of presence
Gear change light and easy to use
Pedals well spaced and clutch about right
Steering wheel nice
lots of storage space given the style of car

Againsts

Ride a bit firm on rough surfaces
No ipod/mp3 link available and you void warranty if you try
poorish visability, not just at the rear but you cant see the front either.
"Only" 245bhp is quick 0-60 in 6.1 secs 160mph max but it didnt feel "fast"- Maybe Grav and Maff have just altered my expectation of fast!
Extras include paint, cruise control and everything else.

Bought one!

Its spec is Blue Metallic,

Cayman S (red brakes)

18 inch wheels.

oh and its 1/43rd scale:)

I collect 1/43rd model of cars I've driven plus I have a collection of 1/43rd scale F1 Ferraris from the very first one in (from memory) 1947 upto Mr Schumacher's cars.

i love the cayman.. but only the cayman S.
the normal cayman is 2 slow.

i'm actually considering buying one.. but i need to sell my scoupe first.

try to ride on a new boxster S ... you'll see the difference ;)

hugs,
