I watched the above programme the other night and some guy on there wanted to sell his Mercedes SL 500 R230, and he wanted £8000 for it, it was 2005 with low mileage, the pawn broker wanted to give him £7000 but in the end gave him what he what asked for £8000, does seem a bit cheap for a 2005 model, there was nothing wrong with it (yet). I looked at 2005 models and they were going between £11000 and £13000. Seems he got a bit of a bargain.

As above, plus if the owner defaulted on payments the broker would want to shift it quick and still make a bit of a profit. Business is Business as they say.

Either way do you expect top $ for a car if you go that direction.

Loan or selling - it will always be a rock bottom price.

Probably trade value or less than trade.

They can then sell it on to make an easier or much larger profit.

You are almost always on the back foot if you have to sell something quick!

If you have a Pickwick Pawnbrokers in your town ( they are involved with the programme) and need to buy Euros or Dollars, buy from them, they always give a better rate than local banks, post office or local travel shops, a lot of people don't know that.

TV is not reality...... do you really think on these programmes its not made up???

You always get the best price when negotiating with a TV crew in attendance, as the other side don't want to look bad.

Advertised for vs what they actually fetch.

R230 can be an expensive car to own, and rough early ones have dragged down values, what would WBAC have paid for it?
