Computer is Win 10 with Windows Defender.
Over the last 3 days it has been a bit slower to start & shut down.
I use chrome and it automatically loads 6 tabs for me, one of which is MB Club forum page.
An example of the problem is that to start this thread I clicked on PC and IT support/Advice posts. Instead of going there a new tab opens which is initially labeled pwwysydh.com and then changes to cheap holidays https://www.mysimon.com/shopping?q=...5&qsrc=0&gch=apparel3&au=11626501&tt=T0000731
It has also changed to sites offering computer fixes.
On Tuesday I ran windows defender which found 1 problem which I deleted but the problems continue.
Yesterday I installed Malwarebytes and ran a scan. It found 9 PUP's which I quarantined. But the problems continue.
Now, malwarebytes picks up the rogue program (in the log it lists it as w w w.reimageplus.com:49298 I put the spaces between the w's as this site changes the actual address as I type it!) but still I don't get to go to where I clicked on and I get a malwarebytes tab telling me they have stopped the programme.
As an aside, probably related, one of my other opening tabs is a 1and1 email account which I have not been able to log into for 3 days on the PC. It works ok on tablet & phone though.
All help appreciated.

First step would be to dump Windows Defender and get a decent AV.

Get a free one like Avast or a good paid for one such as Kasperski or Norton.

Once loaded, do a full scan and see what tranpires.
Adw Cleaner is also worth downloading and running as well as the AV scan as you have malware on your PC.

Thanks for that. I used to use AVG but on the advice of this forum I switched to Windows Defender:dk::wallbash:

:D AVG is not good anymore and they sell your details on to other companies.
Avast is the best free AV in many tests.

You have to have a effective spyware downloaded Avast free is good, also download Spybot free use both or them one after another, then put Maleware through your computer as well, you could also go to control panel and hit the add or remove programmes, this will list all the programmes you have and also the dates your computer got them look for recent dates and do you know what it is if not remove it,you need to run spybot every two weeks it will clean your computer,Avast will run all the time stopping any spyware attacks

Personally I'd do the following...

Download Mbam, and a program called Rkill onto a USB drive, this has to be from another computer not the infected one

Once downloaded, change the file names to anything random

Load the USB to the infected computer and drag onto the desktop, run Rkill and this should halt any viruses running in the background. Then run Mbam in the meantime and clear all that's come up, restart computer and it should then be free of infections

I had a REALLY pesky virus once, which any malware file name it would recognise and block, hence the file name changes. It was that stubborn I needed Rkill to halt it before I could do anything, it wouldn't even let me download anything with any keywords such as virus protection or malware remover onto the computer, quite clever

May not be the case on yours and this was a good while ago so there may be better programs available nowadays

There's a good reason why people tell me their computers must be clean because Windows Defender never finds anything.

It's like recommending British Gas for your gas and expecting them to be good value and effective!

I would also avoid AVG - it's shyte.

Avast or Avira...!

Unless Kaspersky has improved, installing it is worse than having a virus. Kills PC performance even on high end stuff.

Seems stable again - thanks for the help guys:thumb:
