Some advice if possible please.

My NSF electric window/door mirror indicator isn't working - basically no electrics on the NSF door. Been waiting for one of the replacement parts (a resistor?) since end of October (supply issues at the factory). Replacement part not due till 4th December, there might be a chance that I may end up waiting longer for the replacement part!

My problem is that my MOT runs out on the 15th December. Had a chat with a MOT tester and the service advisor at the local MB dealer and they say that my car would fail its MOT given that the NSF door mirror indicator wouldn't be working at the time of the MOT test, if the replacement part doesn't turn up before the MOT runs out.

What can I do? If the part required doesn't turn up then the car fails its MOT. If I got no MOT then I can't drive the car.

Any ideas what I can do? Car is W204 C220CDI Sport Comand.

Thanks

Already tried to source the part from a breaker.

Is it on a VOR (Vehicle Off Road) order? That will normally get you the part a quickly as possible.

A worst case scenario would see you running a cable from the indicator at the front/rear of the car to the side indicator...

Your MOT is nearly a month away, your replacement part due in 11 days before that.

TBH don't see the point in worrying in advance about things that don't need to be worried about.

run a wire directly from the bulbs to the rear indicator as a tempoary measure?

MOT tester can't test what isn't fitted. So take the indicators out of the mirrors and tape the hole over

very inventive

A good friend took his 1964 Series 2 Land Rover for an MOT some years ago and on the way the windscreen wiper packed up, he unbolted the windscreen and told the Tester that without the windscreen they could not test the wiper, he got a pass!:D

Haha... that made me laugh... legend.

Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side. Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens.

That is true ... perfectly legal...

Ive just done my MOT course and the number of crazy scenarios had us all in stitches for the 3 days..

MOT test is basically a very basic check of a vehicle... Dont think your car is anywhere near safe or roadworthy just because it passes an MOT!

Thought I'd update this.

The part that was on back order turned up at the indy last Friday and has been fitted to the car along with the other bits.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
