Potential New CLK owner

Hello,

I am currently looking at at 53 plate CLK 270 Avantgarde. The car in question is on 87000 miles and is totally spotless.

I have read about the many horror stories of this Radiator (Valeo) problem and just wondering if there was ever a recall be Mercedes to remedy the problem. If so is this reflected in the service history?

The garage will be giving the car a service before i would purchase, (A service is aparently due). I may ask them to do the radiator swap and a transmission flush before taking the car to try and prevent them from buying, as I may walk away if not. Also the Sat Nav DVD is also missing so may help in my negotiating.

What are peoples experiences? I know you mainly here of the pitfuls on forums but it does seem there are also a lot of positives.

There was never an MB recall that I'm aware of.

Have you checked if the radiator is in fact a Valeo item? I believe some have a name on. Or it could be made by Behr?
Nice choice anyway. I used to get near on 50mpg on reasonable runs.
