Prince RIP

I'm not sure John TBH. I like the cars of today much better than old ones. They drive much better. When I was a kid I'm sure there seemed to be more cars using the hard shoulder on the motorway than there is now.

I always remember my dads cars breaking down. The last time one of my vehicles broke down was early 90's and that was an old Astra van.

And yes, years ago it was (as an example) Fiesta, Escort, Seirra & Granada. 4 cars in the range. Most manufactueres nowadays have over 10 cars.

Somethings got to give.

I feel the same.

I would never pay the equivalent of £50k for a C class now!

I give a huge priority to the safety improvements of the cars today.

You don't see much on the hard shoulder - I guess hence smart motorways. Also I think maintenance has improved and perhaps people's knowledge generally about it.

You still get exceptions of course.

My dad and mum must have been lucky - I don't remember any of their Austin 1100, Austin 1100 Estate, Austin 1300, Austin Allagro or Rover 200 breaking down. Their Ford Onion broke down at least once due to an alternator. Sure, they all had issues and needed maintenance / repairs but were reliable otherwise. Not all British-built cars were sht it seems! :D

Yes John. You were lucky as is our daughter. She's never suffered the embarrassment and humiliation of having to get out and help push the car down a busy high street.

How about the 'embarrassment' of being snubbed in a MB dealership?

A musical genius.

RIP Prince.
