Hi All,

I have a '52' C180 Kompressor Auto which was running fine until about 4 months ago when i got it serviced. :(

I started getting a warning message like 'oil level high - reduce oil level' (can't remember exactly but something like this). Also the engine warning light stayed on. The gears dont seem to be changing as smoothly anymore, seem to be more 'booming' now.

I took it in to the dealers who told me there is a fault with the engine management unit and they have reset it so all should be ok.

It wasn't so i took it back. This time they said it was a known problem with the new E Class and all they needed to do is replace a part, which they did.

After this the car did seem to go a little better for a little while but now i have started getting 'oil level too high' message and gear change is very moody!!.

Has anyone else experienced this?.

if the engine oil level is too high... get them to reduce it...
it can eventually screw up the gasket...

I have taken it three times now and have been told the oil level is fine. But the engine management unit is faulty!.

Maybe I should try a different dealer and see what he says. :)

Hi Rico,
I have read reports from several owners of 211's (four or five in total) that report the warning information that you have experienced.

There are two points I would like to make, firstly the only indication they have is a warning telling them the oil level is to high. No other symptoms whatsover. No lack of performance, no problem wth gear selection.

Secondly, You own a C-class, and knowing what a very, very few owners of a completely different model have experienced, does not solve you seperate problem.

They need to look at it, and rectify it.

I hope I have not been too blunt with my post, because I certainly do not mean to be.

Regards,
John

Hi John,

I take your point.

I feel that my local dealers are messing me about so I will try another nearby dealer and see if I get better service.

Thanks for your help.

Rico
