i have a 1990 R129 500SL, its been fine in all the time ive had it, only around 2-3 weeks now, driven it on the odd occasion, then parked back up (sometimes parked on a steep forward/down facing hill)
after driving the car today, about less than 1 mile down the road, the car started to kangaroo, and then run like a bag of crap.
now when started, it misfires badly and there is a heavy petrol smell.
also the battery light is now on.
any ideas what it could be?
could different fuel have caused some sort of malfunction? i ask this because it was only yesterday i put some petrol in.
i definitely put in petrol! (NOT diesel!!!) but not sure if it was regular unleaded, super unleaded, or optimax. i will find out for sure tonight as i have the receipt somewhere, i cant think of anything else that could have caused it, unless it was just bad timing and something to do with regular wear and tear has let go
any help would be much appreciated
