Hi All. In the process of changing the prop shaft carrier bearing on my 2006 ML320 W164. This shaft doesn'
t have the usual U couplings but captured bearings as shown in the photo with no apparent bolt to undo. Anyone had any experience of separating this type please ? Also on a curious note. Has anyone removed the prop shaft and driven it without ? I appreciate it's not ideal however this used to be done a lot on the old Freelanders and wondered if there were any issues with driving it without a prop (other than the obvious 2 wheel drive and slight handling difference) Thanks in advance.
