I had 2 new tyres fitted on the front of my car today but the fitter noticed I have a hairline split on the inside of one rim about 20mm long from the bead edge in towards the middle. Would probably explain why i was always blowing that corner up ,about every fortnight. Anyway, can anyone tell me the correct name or number of these? so I can trawl ebay for a replacement.Their 17's by the way. Thanks in advance

Hi Mark.

Rimfurbish/Rimstock will professionally repair the wheel if you wish.

They are an excellent outfit and it's possible that they may have a ready-refurbished wheel in stock. LINK.

HTH.

Paul.

Thanks a lot (obviously i'm not the only one awake at this time!) I'll probably give rimfurbish a try to see if can be repaired.

I'm paperworking at the moment. :)

They are a fantastic company. They have proper safety systems in place and they'll let you know if the wheel is safely serviceable.

I have just googled this firm and found this reply on a Range Rover forum. I don't doubt the credibility of this company, but I guess you pay your money and make your choice.

'RIMSTOCK/RIMFURBISH Do Not Use
Just a heads up for everyone.

I sent my 20" supercharger alloys for refurb at Rimfurbish 2 months ago. I went to them after seeing a link on here which I was very impressed with.
I decided to have my alloys shadow chromed and was told it would take 7 working days.
I went upto Birmingham to collect them about 3 weeks later. On the way up I had a few calls from the manager Matt Ball saying they had a couple of problems with them. There was an imperfection on two of them which meant they decided to respray them and hoped to still put them on the car that day. I was due to take the car down to spain the next day so had a tight schedule.
The two they had resprayed were a much lighter colour. I had no option but to have them put on the car. I was told that they had another set of my wheels in stock which would be shadow chromed and sent to me in Spain. I would then send my wheels back to them.
I good solution I thought, but over the last month I have been fobbed off everytime I contact them and am not actually sure they will fulfill their obligations.
I am thinking about contacting Birmingham trading standards.'

I'm not sure a one off story like that is relevant.

In any case if two wheels on one side of the car are slightly different in shade to the other, what odds? It is impossible to ever compare. For this reason if you like two wheels but can't decide which to buy, buy 2 of each and have different personalities on opposite side of the car.

Couldn't get away with that if it's a staggered set and the refurber has ballsed up the rears!

They are standard w208 AMG alloys , they are staggered so make sure any you see on ebay are for the front as the rear dish is much deeper.

Thanks for the reply's. I am now on the look out for a replacement front. Couldn't believe the price of the new original set!! £1100 :eek:

i posted on that range rover thread, when i first sent my wheels in i was told
turnaround time was approx 7days
they've had my wheels for nearly 4 months now:mad:

AS Howard, Standard W208 staggered alloys same as what was on mine when I bought it.

AS Ringway nothing wrong with Rimfurbish/Rimstock they will repair the wheel and if they cant they will tell you so they are brutally honest from my experience.

You always get bad reviews of any company but I'll say one thing would I race on a wheel Rimstock had repaired? Yes I would try them first rather than spend on a new set they will at least give you a straight answer.

Hmmm 72 hour turnaround on anything we have ever sent them, 4 months  I'd be down there pulling heads off by now  Used them 4 times in last 6 weeks since I read about them on this forum.

Top notch outfit colour match perfect only problem we have had (and it is not really a problem) is we have had to re balance wheels upon return.
