protecting wheels??

Hi guys it currently use autoglym hd wax for my bodywork and was wondering could I use it on my alloys or should I buy rim wax instead? Probably the same thing?
 
I use G techniq wheel armour C5, a little goes along way! Wheel off job so you do the barrels also.

I also use Mothers Mag and Alloy protection...I don't rate poor boys at all.
 
C5 all the way.

Have tried Car Pro DLUX, Finish Kare 1000p, Auto Finesse Mint Rims and Black Magic Detailing Revolutions. Each is a good product in its own right but C5 still performs better IMO.
 
I used the C5 on some freshly refurbed alloys about a month ago and have been totally underwhelmed. After a week, I was expecting all the brake dust to come off easily, but it needed some car pro trix to remove it.

I've since recoated the wheels with FK 1000P and now they are much easier to clean, and also look much better.

So far, I'm not impressed by the gtechniq hype.

I'd stick with the HD wax if I was the OP.
 
I found the only good thing about the Poorboys stuff is the great smell-that's it! I use the Finishcare FK1000 and it makes the wheels look brighter and very easy to clean with just some car shampoo
 
Poorboys wheel sealant, smells good and does the job well. Reckon the finsh lasts 4/5 washes and around 2 - 3 months.

Usually I can use the pressure washer with one blast to get the wheels looking freshly washed after applying this stuff.....which I think serves the purpose

I use a/g wheel sealer and a sponge and bucket of water makes light work of brake dust. I re-sealed after about 6 months.

C5 Is the same product as C1 and is used as a hard coating to protect better against marring, holograms, and damage from brake dust etc. It's also designed to last for a longer time 12-18 months. As such, it doesn't function like a wax or the highly repellent nano coatings. You have to add these on top to get the hydrophobic affect that you are talking about where it washes offer ally easily.

So the ideal protection is C5 plus a coating like Exo/C2 or as in your case a wax. Long lasting protection for the wheels and easier to clean.

I used C1 on mine as C5 was out of stock and I knew it's the same stuff in the bottle.

The wheels, especially the fronts, get terribly dirty after long trips but they just sponge clean, even days later, using nothing more than water.
 
Just given my diamond cut wheels three coats of Poorboys sealant ready for when the winter wheels and tyres come off , which so far were not needed up in Norfolk this winter :cool:

If all goes to plan i will be changing mine over this weekend so will have to get the poorboys out. Lets hope the weather will be dry n sunny
