Quaife vs Wavetrac Differentials

Is it available via a forum sponsor, if so it will be great, if not...

Hi

Alot of the US guys prefer the Wavetrac Diff to the Quaife but one thing is that no one knows much about the diff it in the UK

I would like to do some testing on a Wavetrac diff on my next project !

If you're looking for reviews have a look around the Jap forums loads of people run the Wavetrac diff, I hear Quaife actually make a unit which is slightly more aggressive than the ATB, most of the Honda drag racers select Quaife or Wavetrac 1st or a Spool

I've run a Quaife in my race car since 2004, the box has been rebuilt twice and still on the same Quaife, it gets death, ;launched on full slicks at 7500 rpm with full throttle shifting and the diff has been perfect, I wouldn't change as it's proven and very well supported in the UK, I think Wavetrack are designed and built only in the USA so in the event of a problem you may be limited.

Tell me.more about your car....

Honda MK2 CRX 1990
Honda B18 (1800cc) block 81mm bore
Forged CP Pistons 9:5:1 CR and Eagle H beam rods
Integra ITR (type R) cams, valve and springs.
RC 750cc Injectors (changing to ID 1000cc)
Walbro 255 lph in tank fuel pump
Tubular equal length RAN horn exhaust manifold, Tial 44mm waste gate
Garrett GT30 Hybrid turbo
turbo back full 3 inch down pipe and system
Uprated drive shafts and hubs
fully rebuilt gearbox with steel caged bearings and Quaife ATB
Uprated brakes front and rear
Hondata ECU fully programmable unit
Low boost 7 psi (waste gate pressure) makes 315 bhp
medium boost 13.7 psi 413 bhp
High boost will be 20/22 psi when I install the new ID 1000cc injectors and should break 500+ bhp

That's the basics

Car sounds mental 9s or 10s?

I think this was the case a few years ago, but there is at least 4 stockists in the UK, and many others in Europe

With the 1000cc injectors it will run 10,s but that will be it, it's still a road car which I use for track days and drag racing, full interior, electric sun roof and windows. All going well I should be driving a low 9 second car this year for a tuning company but that's pure drag car with 700+ hp.

Give me shout !

We hope to get a low 10 merc this year my best time in a e55 estate was 11.1 !

You cant go wrong with quaife or wavetrac
I am using wavetrac now
In 90% of any driving condition, it will perform just the same
Wavetrac get the advantage, if only the other tyre has no traction at all

Hi Guys,

Did anyone get any where trying the Wavetrac diff?
The company speal sounds good and speaks of loosing a lot less traction when one wheel has no traction where others dont.

Hi Acid,

What are your thoughts between the wavetrac and the Quaife? Does the "Loosing one wheels traction results in no traction" effect the quaife and not the wavetrac as they quote?
