Hello all,

Just trying to source a rear exhaust box on my 1988 R107 300SL. I've checked on the Russian site for a part number, and Inchcape can do the part for £187.18, however it shows up as a part for a 250D.

Can anyone confirm that the rear box on a 300SL is part number: A 107 490 84 21?

TIA;)

Call your local Merc Dealer (Spares Dept) and get a quote for part number and price for your specific car. They will input your VIN for the exact p/n.

A quick research shows that the exact same part number rear muffler was also used on the 8cyl 560SL for the US market...as a result you can easily buy the part on Ebay (or other online autostores) from the States.

rear box for a 300SL R107 from the official MB EPC is:

A1074908421

it carrys a 107 part number so definatly the right one

And ask them what the part number is, and they will not tell you. :wallbash:

Holy crap! It's not secret information...

The Germans certainly wouldn't put up with that sort of service!

I have never had a problem getting part numbers from any of the dealers around here , it saves them looking up again if I am not buying everything on a list there and then .

I have on occasion said I am going to try breakers for certain parts and they will even suggest which other models use the same parts . I always find it good to go in personally and get to know the partsmen , most are very nice and helpful , especially if , as many do , they run older models and are enthusiasts too .
