My r107 is on SORN as I'm not planning to drive it for the foreseeable future (it does start and is perfectly driveable though). The engine is misfiring and seems in need of a good tune up. Could someone kindly recommend a good west london based mobile mechanic who can come over and tune the engine, change the spark plugs, oils and filters etc?

Tune ups generally do not cure misfires!!
We are based in north west london but unfortunately do not do mobile repairs.

Hi alf 123, thanks for the notes. As the car has been in a garage for a long time, I was thinking changing the spark plugs and checking the distributor cap cables might be a good point to start re the mis-fires. Also I'd just like to get all the fluids and filters in the cars replaced and as I have no idea when each of them was last changed.

Hopefully Willow 123 will respond to this thread...

Where in west london are you, and which engine do you have? Just trying to see if somebody could pass by and take a look at it. :)

When was it last driven and when do you intend to use it again? If it's been sitting a while start with the obvious, caps, rotors and leads. I would not bother with fluids yet if you just intend to store it for a while. Electrics maybe if you want to tinker but i would wait till I decide to use it again.

Hi Carat, bing, thanks for responding. The car is an '86 300sl, it is in Ealing. The car was last driven 3 months ago when it was driven around 200 miles to bring it to my house from that of the prior owner's. It was standing in a garage previously as well per what i was told. I took it off its MOT, but will probably bring it back into use first quarter next year. I do start it every week/move it back and forth on the driveway to charge up the battery, work on it etc.

I want it checked for a number of reasons. First I have no idea when it was last fully serviced. The engine is misfiring and it doesn't sound healthy. Additionally, the exhaust has recently started billowing white smoke and water vapour although the car hasn't been driven, and the smoke smells a bit unpleasant. I would like to identify and rectify any issues asap in case damage is being done each time it is started, so any mobile mechanic type gentleman who work on it on a weekend would be quite helpful.
