The engine loom is back on my 1994 R129, which I am going to collect on Monday, sh1t or bust...

The car has been standing for about three months, and now there's a misfire. The seller is getting the spark plugs changed. If that doesn't cure it, it will I think be distributor cap or rotor arm.

As I said, I'm collecting it on Monday come what may. Can anybody confirm the part numbers for the cap & rotor arm, and what tools I need to take with me to replace them - standard cross-head or slot screwdrivers, or something more exotic? Please help... I need this car; I've waited long enough!

Hex keys for both the dizzie cap and rotor arm, but take Torx just in case as I did once have a rotor arm that had them.

Main dealer prices may make you think twice. ECP are £250ish for Bosch, less for Beru.

You want Beru caps and rotors really. Bolts are hex Allen key. You want to take both types of screwdrivers and a multi Allen key tool. I think I paid 278 for 2 x rotor arms and caps. from euro car parts. The later ones.... I think you will be ok if 94. They did 2x rotor caps and the early ones needed revised adapter to take later arms.

just incase....don't mix and match the rotors and the caps...same make for both

Thanks guys. It's a V8; does it have one or two distributors - I thought it was only one.

Edit: No, I see it has two. Is the MB part number A1191580102, could anyone confirm? There's some on fleaBay for only £76.37...

2, one on each bank. Careful when you're swapping those HT leads!

And there's more... Could anyone confirm the MB part number for the rotor arms as A1234 332 422? ECP have Bosch items quite cheap on fleaBay.

Part# on caps is correct. Rotor should also have a 119 code, I think they've confused the Bosch code with the Mercedes p/n

They haven't; I have...:o

The cap on fleaBay matches the one on ECP's website, and the ECP rotor arm looks the same as the ones on Ebay, so I'm inclined to think it's the correct fitment.

One last question, if I may. Where are the distributors actually located? I'm hoping they are on the front of the camshafts under the two black plastic covers on both sides top front of the engine unit. If not, where are they, and do I need tools to get at them? Please help...

That is correct. The plastic covers just unclip (delicately!)
