Soft tops on, car was parked overnight on a slight slope ie the drivers door is higher than the passenger door - it did rain heavily BUT whats weird is the only part that is sodden is the yellow circled part the door card is dry as is the inside of the window and the seat.

Could it be a blocked drain hole ?

Really puzzled on this one

TIA

It runs down the A pillar and under the seal. Alternatively it's running inside the door after coursing down the window and the inner plastic liner is untucked at the bottom allowing water to enter the car instead of drain outward.

The door to car seal is ok but still wet, half way along is a hole in it (intentional)

The door to sill seal (lower seal) is also ok but gritty

Could it be sprayed up water from the road ?

Checked again and all drains appear tight and complete, the footwell is bone dry as is every part bar the sodden centre sill section

all of the door card is dry inc the inner storage box part

If taking any photos of bits of trim helps I will gladly but I dont want a soggy SL :(

Door card off to check the liner, also check the mirror seal is ok.

If you can't find it trap newspaper in the door seals and wait for rain.

Good tip - will try newspaper before an inept scouser dismantles Fritz`s expert hard work 10 years ago !!!

I would check the fitting of the soft top carefully. I had a dripping leak, only after heavy rain, from the nearside top of the A pillar. If the soft top isn't sitting squarely that could cause a leak between the sealing rubbers there.

Also heard it's worth lubricating the rubbers once in a while with Vaseline or something similar which helps them to stay supple and seal properly. They can get flattened over time apparently.

How adjustable is it or is it a dealer job ?

Cured (i think) - there is a hole in the rubber (intentional) at the bottom edge of the door which must be a drain, it was clogged and I can only assume water was diverting to the sill.

I unclogged it with a thin screwy and tried to simulate rain with paper in the seals - all ok

Fingers crossed

I have the opposite

My soft top is a perfect fit and never leaks - my hard top leaks from the top of the A pillar and drips inside - onto the sill if the car is angled correctly, or even the passengers seat.

Thats why mine has the Soft top option for most of the year :)

I will refit and the hardtop and sort it though when I get time !

I decided to vaseline all the rubbers (!) yesterday and noticed some black fabric "duck tape" on the seal rubber around the back seats (roof down) and two pieces on either door piller just above the door lock (on body not door) - I want to get this sorted - who is best to do so (I am not competent) a dealer or a body shop ? also is a dealer the only source of rubber seals ?

TIA
