I want to remove the fitted seats to see what's underneath. Firstly, how do you remove them (I can see two red metal tags that look like catches but they don't move)? and is there any storage space underneath?

Thanks.

You push the red clips in towards the back of the car. The roof control unit is under the seat

There are no bins underneath, it was bins or seats. Seats look better, bins are more useful.

I'd just leave 'em as they are :D

Yup.

On the 500/600/SL60 you had no choice until (I think) the '98 facelift ... those models came with rear seats, unless Bose was specified. The 280 and 320 had rear child seats as a cost option (£970 cloth, £1360 leather).

I don't intend on taking anything away - I just like to be nosy and attempt to understand where everything is and why.

I would have removed them when viewing the car to check for water ingress.

Not unless you leave it parked with the roof down, or have cracked rear windows.

Just wanted some more info on this subject. I may need to remove the rear seat backs as well as the bases (removing old ICE cables and possible running in a new coax from Ariel to dash)
Any tricks to this I should know before I go poking around ?

Thanks

Just came across this thread - I think the amp has blown in my SL320 as the radio and aerial power on but no sound comes through (not even a background hiss). If the BOSE option isn't fitted, is the amp still located beneath the rear seat?
