Hi need to replace the battery on my sl320 r129. Does anyone know what the correct size/amp is? Also any recommended brands? Thanks

I have always had a good deal from Mercedes Benz. Should just need to reset the windows and radio code.

Thanks much appreciated. So it’s a 100amp battery? Also can I just swap straight out without blowing anything?

Its a straightforward job to change the battery.
Key out of the ignition and turn everything electrical off (radio etc)
Disconnect the negative terminal first, and re-connect negative last.
As above, you may need to reset the one touch window operation and the radio code.

IIRC you may need to turn the steering from lock to lock as well. It's almost 15 years since my R129 had a new battery though so I'm not 100% sure on that :)

If you can connect a battery charger to the leads and maintain a 12-volt supply that way, you shouldn't need to reset anything afterwards.

Thanks can anyone confirm if it’s definitely a 100amp battery? I’ve just been down to the Kwick fit who are down the road to me who said they have a 019 battery but not in 100amps?

019 is the size and orientation, it's this bit that is most important. 019 batteries come in a variety of Ah ratings, depending on the manufacturer etc. but all around the same rating.

Try somewhere else ! I would go for the 100 ah if you can get one at a reasonable price locally even though I would expect 95 ah would be perfectly fine, that's just me though.

To provide a bit more of background to my issue. I initially bought the battery from kwickfit as I was having issues with the car starting (posted on another thread). To rule out the battery at the time I thought I would replace it and trusted kwickfit to provide the correct size. However after getting my issue rectified which was related to a sensor my mechanic mentioned the battery I had was incorrect, they gave me a 110. I went back to kwickfit and spoke to the manager and he confirmed it was the correct battery according to their system but was happy to change if I can provide more details of the one needed. Hence the only reason going back to them.

I now see why you are staying with QF, hopefully they will have a 95 ah in stock

Will check with them tmrw, they did mention they had a 019 in stock but said it was a 800amp. Looking at their website can only find the one mentioned and another 019 which is a 850amp.

That will be the CCA (cold cranking amps). Most 019 batteries will be around 800-850 CCA.

Thanks that makes sense as the cca on the battery is 900 and ah is 100. I assume that is the correct one?
